Getting Haunted by the Bad Empanada Ghost

Empanadas are a staple to the Argentines, like little pockets of love that make good cheap snacks on the go. They can be filled with anything: meat, chicken, humita (its like a cream corn pie type filling texture with pieces of red bell-peppers, it reminds me of  something youd eat during Thanksgiving) or even the boring tomato basil and cheese which is still good. Anyway, the point is that empanadas are great... until you get haunted by the food poisoning ghost in a sneaky chicken empanada. Bryan did and there was no turning back. Poor little guy was so sick all day long, like violently sick. I felt so bad for him, but was so thankful I turned down that bite of  chicken empanada he offered me.  So, that was all of Satur-day. Alba if you are reading this, don't worry, I took care of him, of course -  brought him gatorade, soup,  water and sorbet for his throat, anything he wanted pretty much. Then he came back to life during the night and had movie night with Winnie; so I went out with some friends to Devenir, a fun Brazilian bar down the street.

Caiparinhas and dancing and brazilian music all night long.  I'm that girl who has absolutely no rhythm on the dance floor, none,  but doesn't care. Plus, the music is so festive,  its hard not to just have fun and dance all night long! Then.. the best part of the night.. they brought out 5 guys with drums who started a drum circle in the middle of the dance floor! Not like highschool football halftime but like darbukas and huge bongo-like drums,  it was so perfect and so great!!  Before I knew it it was 7am and morning.  I decided it was time to go home and jump in bed with Winnie and Bryan.

Sunday me and Bryan we went to see Mel Brook's The Young Frankenstein play... or should I say El Joven Frankenstein. I was kinda skeptical about going  because the last play I went to was The Phantom of the Opera when I was 12 and I just remember it being so long. Plus this play would be in spanish without subtitles. But, the lead guy was this really famous argentine comedian, Guillermo Francella that Bryan really wanted to see. So we went and it was actually really really good! I understood about 95% of it. (Got lost on the singing, but who doesn't get lost. ) Our original seats were up higher on the second floor but the usher came to us right before the play started and said my seat was messed up so we had to move. He took us down the stairs and kept walking closer and closer to the stage and pointed to the middle 4th row.. yes! Score! Theatre night was fun.

We also moved this weekend into aparment #3, but thats a long story. Imagine a bachelor pad in the sixtys that needs some minor repairs and a little TLC.  Andddd what else what else, Monday was Flag Day so Buenos Aires was like a ghost town outside. I thought everyone was going to have their Argentine flags out or at least face paint on like we do on the 4th of July. But no, didn't see many flags.

Happy Almost Fathers Day if any dads are reading this :)
