Evita and her Cool Buttons

Since we are currently "unemployed" ... some say jobless, but I say just playing for a bit... anyway, we've been spending our days dabbling through different parts of BA.
Yesterday we went to the Evita Museum. Super super cool, she wore the neatest clothes- her shoes and jackets were great and all the buttons were so unique. haha, "how can you go to the whole Evita museum and her clothes be your favorite part?" I'm sure you're thinking. But, if you're ever down here- go look, you'll think the same.
Today we walked around a lot. I got some flats! Which doesn't seem like a huge deal, but finding comfy shoes that fit my funky feet and aren't $300 pesos ($100 dollars) is a challenge.  But anyway, I found some winners for $45 dollars! woo!  This picture is us at Puerto Madero - the river in the background is the Rio de la Plata for those of you geography people.
Tonight we made Lentils- argentine style, which doesnt really make a difference because we didnt really know the recipe to begin with, but its argentine because the lentils we used were local (lentejons, I think) and we used argentine chorizo and chimichurri spice. Tasted just like lentils. But we didnt realize how big they were going to get, so we have dinner for the next 3 nights! I was thinking lentil tacos perhaps or giving them to the neighbors we dont know.  haha oh yea, our sink knobs say C (Caliente ) and F (Frio) , but without thinking I keep turning on the C to wash my hands- C for Cold, I seem to not notice the scorching heat or something coming from the faucet and keep unexpectedly burning my fingers!!! This is like the 4th time too, my hands are bright red and my fingers are yelling at me. such a bozo!
ok well, Thats pretty much it!  Sad news: we've eaten all of the candy that was sent with us :( so so sad. Bill's chocolates are gone, Morgys sour patch kids were gone days ago and the Rips she sent made it an hour.
ok im done, love you all!!!

Elise finally made friends

So today we went to Belgrano, a nice residental area of the city where my school is and I think we are going to end up living. Its full of parks and trees and its green and clean, so Elise was happy. There are also tons of dogs everywhere, as you can see in the picture haha. People just hire dog walkers who pick up about 20 dogs at a time, tie them up outside while they get some recruits then walk around the city. Its a pretty funny sight. We move out of our shoe box on Sunday and into a real apartment- cant wait! But other than that, not much has been going on. We are just spending our time exploring the city trying to figure out exactly where we want to live. Cell phone comes next week, so once I have the number I will post it. But everyone just needs to download skype and we can talk for free, so get on it people!!

The shower doesn't care, lets face it.

Happy Sunday Funday! First off. Second, our shower has the mind of its own. It doesn't really care the temperature you prefer, just curious. Sometimes it goes from ice cold to SCORCHING, and its super small so when you try and jump out of the way because you feel your skin starting to peel off, you cant. Bryan cut his ankle actually yesterday by trying to dart out and hitting it on the porcelin. Luckily, I completely overpacked and had bandaids and neosporin in seconds. go team go. We have to constantly keep our hand on the faucet adjusting. All the while the shower is probably just kind of laughing at us. Bryan just came out of the shower saying "I conquered the sure." Yea, Im sure.  Ok, well thats the shower situation.
I continue to like Buenos Aires more and more each day I'm here- I mean, we've been here for 3 days , but still. Woo! Ok, off to an artists market . Pictures are soon to come- te prometo!

Oh and fun spanish words I've learnt (is learnt even a word?):
Palta = avocado... not aguacate
Anana = Pineapple ... not pina
Ombligo (means bellybutton) but I saw it at a fruit stand and it means Naval Orange! cool huh.

3 Failed flights and a Shoebox

Finally made it!  So the plan was, yesterday we were supposed to meet each other in Dallas and then fly straight to Buenos Aires together, but that didnt happen at all. I get to the San Antonio airport, check my bags and am waiting for my flight, but there's no plane and were supposed to leave in 20 minutes. Well, turns out our flight is cancelled! Of course it is. haha. So after talking to the lady and crying and telling her I have to have to make it to BA tomorrow, she gets me on a flight out of Houston. 4 hours later , my flight takes off for Houston. 10 minutes in the air, the captain comes on the PA and says that the landing gear is locked and wont go back in so we have to turn around and go back to San Antonio. As we're landing, they have firetrucks everywhere in case our plane crashes. So, an hour later they put us on another plane- which is great, but my connecting flight to BA was taking off at 9pm which only gave me an hour to get there and to my gate or else I'd be spending the night in Houston. Luckily they held the plane for us and I got on the flight to Buenos Aires. Finally! I made it to that flight!  We're taxi-ing on the runway getting ready to leave and the captain comes on and says that the plane's power is low so we're going to have to go back to the gate so maitenance can fix the problem. Haha seriously, I was thinking. 3 for 3. So, an hour and a half later, up up and away!!!
Finally made it! I met Bryan at the airport and we went back to our studio that we're renting for a week. It's cozy, very cozy and snug.  The size of.. some peoples office's, our bathroom is like an airplane bathroom. haha, its cute though.
First thoughts on big buenos aires.. completely different than I had expected. I thought it was going to be exactly like the little city in Spain that I lived in, Sevilla. I don't know why I thought that, of course a huge city (bigger than LA Bryan says) is going to be different than a tiny quaint little town. So far it seems nice, a little dirty- people let their dogs sh#t on the ground and dont pick it up. There are dog walkers with literally 15 dogs- I didnt think that really existed. The exchange rate is nice, I turned in $300 and got back 1,102 pesos. So thats a plus. Its fall down here but it was warm today. Andddd thats pretty much it, Bryans sleeping since he didnt sleep on the plane and Im too nervous to venture out too far because Id for sure get super lost and then that would be another long ordeal, like Where's Waldo.. wheres Bryan and my shoebox. haha.  I tried to walk around and came back in 10 minutes.  Oh! and the accent is funnier than I thought it would be, everything is "shh" when they talk. "Me shama Elise" or "Eshtamos aqui" or "She" instead of "Si" like in Winnie the Pooh, when I think rabbit says "Shuffering Suckutash" haha or maybe it wasnt rabbit, but for those of you pooh fans, you know what im talking about. It kinda throws you off a bit, well a lot.
Anywho, Im going to go. Venture out tomorrow and take some pictures of the shoebox and the town!

T minus 1 day

Hey Yall,

Welcome to our blog! There's nothing really on here now, but once I get settled in  Buenos Aires I'll start writing stuff/putting up pictures and get Bryan to do it too so yall can see what we're up to down here.

So we leave tomorrow and I'm staring at the luggage I have to take: 2 huge suitcases , a backpackers backpack and a duffle bag, all packed to the max weighing in at 50 lbs each. haha, no way am I going to be able to walk through the airport without tipping over.  (Its not all clothes, promise-  sheets, pillow,  towel, toiletpaper, pictures and candy-of course... ) I still feel like Im forgetting something important, but I don't think thats possible.

Right now, the easiest was to contact us by phone is to dial 254.230.9333 and it will ring my computer. When you dial  that number it wont charge long distance if you live in Texas.  Sooo that or e-mail until we get cell phones.

I'll miss yall!
